Characteristics
Plants
gregarious, the filaments broadly attached, softly slippery and to
0.5 - 2.0 dm long, 20 - 200 micron diameter aor somewhat thicker;
plant pale yellowish brown to generally brownish purple; the filaments
at first slightly tapered towards the base, the cells with single,
radially lobes chromatophores; uniseriate, the segments equal to the
diameter or to 0.25 - 0.33 as long, becoming quaternetely and then
more extensively radially divided, resulting in thick, somewhat torulose
and constricted filaments.
